Nah, no loss of cred. Honestly, someone can still be a credible geek about something by knowing a lot about the really old, classic stuff. I've always thought you were a FILM geek first, "geek" geek second. ;)
Plus, the guy who runs my college's Motion Pictures department has never seen Back to the Future. His students gave him hell until he reminded them he's seen every Orson Welles and Woody Allen film several times over. Thus, Robert Zemekis wasn't exactly high on his priority list.
